Custom Fields

BuildingHub allows system administrators to add customized fields to Work Orders, Amenity bookings, Incident Reports, and Certificates of Insurance. If your building requires additional information that the basic template doesn’t ask for, you can add it here.

  • From the Property Settings view, you can find Custom Fields under the Global Data heading.

  • The dropdown menu allow you to select which feature you want to add the custom field to. Once again, the features you can modify are:

  • Work Orders

  • Amenities (additional questions you need from tenants to book an amenity)

  • Incident Reports

  • Certificates of Insurance.

  • In the window that pops up, you’ll need to fill out the following information:

    • Title - the field that the end user will see when filling out the form

    • Field Type - what form will the information take when the user fills it out? Will they need to type in an input, select from a dropdown menu, check a box, or select a date/range?

    • If you select “Input” as the field type, will you require the user to type into a box, enter a valid email address, or enter a number?

  • If you select “Dropdown,” you’ll be asked to create the selectable items in the dropdown. You can select text or have the end user select a color. You can also enable multiple selections by checking “Multi Select.”

  • Checkbox allows you add a checkable field

  • Single and range date pickers allow you to give your end users options for dates.

  • Required on Creation - is this field optional, or will the user need to fill this out to move onto the next step?

  • Add to Existing Records - Will you include this field in records that already existed before the creation of the custom field? They will be blank, but allow data to line up if you were to export any of the information.

  • When you are done, click “Add Item,” and the new fields will show up in the list. Remember to use the feature type dropdown to see the different custom fields for each feature. You can also turn the fields on and off using the “Active” slider on the right-hand side of the screen.
